Shipments are screened to ensure that any party to a shipment is not a potential match to a prohibited individual or organization called a “denied party” under the United Nations (UN), European Union (EU) or USA sanctions.


A denied party is any party to an international transaction which has been placed on any official government denied persons list, blocked from import or export transactions, or has been sanctioned by a government for illegal acts such as involvement in terrorism, narcotics trafficking, money laundering, or weapons proliferation.  Screening is done, for example, on exporters, carriers, and forwarding agents alike.


Transporting shipments which are subject to sanctions or restrictions imposed by governments, international regulatory agencies or other relevant authority is prohibited. As an international company, DHL Express is bound by law to avoid the handling of any transactions which include a denied party.


DHL Express identifies, investigates, and halts shipments with questionable parties immediately upon entry into our shipping network.  If the party screened appears on a Denied Party List, DHL Express will attempt to verify the details against the specifics already known about the company or contact. If the results match or are similar to the known information about the screened party, further investigation will be required with the party.
